  • Big Brother Naija season 7 winner Josephine Ijeoma Otabor buzzed the internet after a video of her recent interview emerged online.
  • Phyna at a movie premiere explained in detail why she dropped her surname and how the family had reacted to her decision   
  • The video sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some wondering why she was comfortable discussing her ex-family issues publicly.

Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner turned movie actress Josephine Ijeoma better known as Phyna, has opened up about her decision to drop her family name, Otabor

In an interview with TVC’s Theophilus Elamah, Phyna revealed that she made the choice because she felt neglected by her family.

She expressed her frustration about having to constantly seek validation and attention from her loved ones, only to be ignored.

Phyna who recently got her first tattoo stated that she had reached a breaking point and no longer wanted to beg for their presence in her life, hence her decision.

The reality TV star who was questioned at a movie premiere said she is embracing her independence and prioritizing her own well-being, free from the stress and emotional burden of seeking family validation.

The actress added that the Otabor family hasn’t reached out to her ever since she dropped the name and she isn’t shocked because it has always been like that.

Her conversation with the media house spurred a reaction online with some questioning her reason for bringing her family issues to the public and others sharing in her point of view. Watch the interview and some reactions to it below:
