A devastating tragedy occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at a funfair organized by Prophetess Naomi Silekunola Ogunswusi, the ex-wife of the Ooni of Ife.

The event, which was intended to be a joyful celebration for children, took a heartbreaking turn when a stampede broke out, resulting in injuries and reported fatalities.

The funfair, held at the Islamic High School Bashorun in Ibadan, Oyo state, was designed to bring together approximately 5,000 children from across the state, aged 0 to 13 years. Queen Naomi, who had recently celebrated her son’s fourth birthday, had planned to provide gifts and sponsor the participants.

In a pre-event interview on Agidigbo 88.7 FM, Ibadan, Queen Naomi assured parents that security measures were in place to ensure the children’s safety.
