Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has weighed in on the recent controversy surrounding her colleague Ngozi Ezeonu’s scolding of braless girls during an audition.
The incident, which saw Ngozi Ezeonu scolding the girls for their outfits, has sparked a heated debate online.
In a viral video, Ngozi Ezeonu is seen scolding the girls for dressing too casually at the audition, insisting that an audition is a professional setting and not the place for such informal attoutfits.
The video quickly gained traction, drawing a wide range of reactions from both the public and industry colleagues.
Kate Henshaw, who shared her opinion on social media, expressed support for Ngozi Ezeonu’s stance.
According to the Newscast actress, an audition is essentially a job interview, and participants should approach it with the seriousness it deserves.
She argued that people should not dress as if they were merely going for a casual errand.
In her words;
“I don’t know what bra did to you, you just want to jangle everywhere, that’s on you. But if you;re going somewhere for an interview, an audition is an interview for a role, you don’t dress as if you’re going down the road to buy sugar and groundnuts. I don’t blame them, I blame us for making entries so easy. This is a profession that has Aunty Joke, RMD, Ego Boyo, Aunty Ngozi Ezeonu, Aunty Patience, Aunty Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, the late Sam Loco Efe, so many greats.”
Kate also addressed criticisms from some social media users, particularly those who argued that Ezeonu had no right to tell auditionees how to dress. She added;
“If they don’t teach you at home, you will be taught outside. Then someone on X app said ‘she’s not their mother or family member to tell them how to dress’ You don’t want to dress well, stay at home. She has every right to say she doesn’t want to see this kind of dressing at her audition, and so it should be. Let’s put some respect on ourselves and what we’re coming to do.”
