Geh Geh exposes Grammy organizers’ alleged strategy
  • Social media commentator Geh Geh asserts that Davido may never win a Grammy Award.
  • He alleges that the Grammy organizers use top artists like Davido for marketing rather than awarding them.
  • Geh Geh urges that artists indifferent to the Grammys tend to win, while those who openly desire it are repeatedly overlooked.
  • He claims Davido and Wizkid’s nominations mainly serve to attract Nigerian and African audiences to the event.

Nigerian social media commentator and self-proclaimed financial adviser, Geh Geh, has sparked discussions online with his assertion that Afrobeats superstar Davido may never win a Grammy Award.

In a recent Instagram video, Geh Geh claimed that the Grammy Awards prioritize marketing over genuine recognition, suggesting that top talents like Davido are used primarily for promotion rather than being rewarded.

His remarks followed the 67th Grammy Awards, where Davido and other top Nigerian artists missed out on wins.

According to Geh Geh, artists who are indifferent to the Grammys tend to win, while those who openly desire the award often face repeated snubs.

He argued that Davido and Wizkid’s nominations serve to attract Nigerian and African audiences to the prestigious event.

“If you check the history of the Grammy, na people wey no really care about the award dey win. Once they know you are really obsessed with it, you go cry tire, you no go see am,” he said.

He further referenced international acts like Drake, who stopped submitting his songs for Grammy consideration, and questioned why American R&B star Chris Brown was placed in the Afrobeat category.

Geh Geh suggested that such moves are strategic efforts by the Grammy organizers to appeal to the African market.

“Grammy is using Davido to market the award to Nigerians and Africans. They know Davido and Wizkid are a big force in the music industry, and their nominations make Nigerians anticipate the event. Why do you think Drake stopped submitting his songs? Why would they put Chris Brown in the Afrobeat category? To market the award to Africans,” he added.

Additionally, he pointed to rapper Nicki Minaj’s history with the Grammys, alleging that she, too, has been used to drive attention to the awards without ever securing a win.
