Nollywood actress Evan Okoro has fiercely responded to the public outrage over her and other stars’ absence from the traditional wedding of her colleagues, Ruby Orjiakor and Onwa Idemili.

In a new video aimed at silencing the critics, Evan passionately explained why she and many others were not present at the event, despite Ruby being one of her closest friends.

The wedding, which took place over the weekend, saw Ruby and Onwa, whose union has been under intense scrutiny, tie the knot with only family and close friends in attendance.

To the shock of many, no Nollywood celebrities were spotted at the ceremony, leading to an uproar online. Fans, upset by the absence, flooded the social media pages of Ruby’s close friends, accused them of failing to show support on their special day.

Evan, visibly frustrated by the criticism, took to social media to set the record straight. She vehemently denied the claims, revealed that Ruby and Onwa had made a conscious decision not to invite her or any other Nollywood stars to the traditional wedding.

According to Evan, the couple chose to keep the event intimate and personal, and she, others respected that choice.

In a tone of defiance, Evan told the critics that Ruby promised to invite her and their colleagues to the upcoming white wedding, which is set to be a grand affair.

Evan also took a strong stand against those accusing her of jealousy or trying to undermine the couple. She made it clear that such claims were completely unfounded and dismantled the false narrative of envy and rivalry in Nollywood that people are trying to create.
