- The iconic Pete Edochie turned 78 recently, and his sons, along with his daughter-in-laws, both present and estranged, left no stone unturned in celebrating the living legend.
- Their tributes, laced with emotions set the internet on fire, drew waves of admiration and unearthing drama online that refused to stay buried.
Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, his current partner Judy Austin, estranged wife May Edochie, and his brother Linc all took to their respective pages to honor the patriarch of their family, the legendary Pete Edochie, as he marked another milestone on March 7, 2025.
Judy Austin showered him with praises, acknowledged his legendary status, sent her best wishes.
Judy Austin wrote;
“Happy Fabulous Birthday to the Lion of Africa @peteedochie…One of the Biggest Names in Africa!!! A Living Legend
“May the Almighty Father Continue to bless you with long life, good health, unconditional love, peace, happiness and everything good in this life Amen. You’re Loved Daddy Keep living for us Amen.”
Yet, the drama that went down brewed in her comment section, where trolls unleashed fire, dragged her for refusing to address Pete as her father-in-law, despite proudly claiming her place as Yul’s wife.

Yul Edochie, on his part,, poured out his undying love, hailed Pete as a father, mentor, and icon, wrapped his tribute in heartfelt prayers.
Yul Edochie wrote;
“The Lion of Africa.
One of Nigeria’s greatest icons. The biggest name in Nollywood. A great man. A Legend. A good man. A wonderful father. Happy 78th birthday Dad. @peteedochie Ebubedike!
“Wishing you many more beautiful and blessed years. May God lead you always.
Ezigbo mmadu. My man for life. Love you forever Dad.”
But social media showed him no mercy. His comment section became a battlefield, filled with critics who accused him of failing his father in recent years, his marital controversies casted a long shadow over his tribute.

For May and Linc Edochie, however, it was a different story. Their heartfelt messages to Pete were met with nothing but admiration, dramatic praises pouring in as netizens elevated them as the true torchbearers of the Edochie legacy, May, however, received a sĺy dig.
May Edochie wrote;
“Celebrating a true icon! a veteran and father to all! @peteedochie the great.
Here is wishing you a glorious day filled with joy and a year ahead full of good health, and happiness!”
