Sowore wants Evangelist Ebuka Obi prosecuted for alleged fraud and fake miracles

• In the aftermath of the fake testimony scandal at Ebuka Obi’s church and the swift arrest of the perpetrator, Sowore has turned the heat on the cleric himself.
• He insists that Ebuka Obi, not the culprit, should be in handcuffs, accused him of fraud, false prophecies, and deception.

Anti-oppression advocate, Omoyele Sowore has turned the spotlight on Evangelist Ebuka Obi, demanding his immediate arrest and prosecution instead of 32-year-old Loveth Helen Alo, who was arraigned on Tuesday for falsely claiming ownership of a five-bedroom duplex in Enugu.

In a fiery statement published on his media outlet SaharaReporters, Sowore accused Obi of running a grand scheme of deception, peddling fraudulent prophecies, staging fake miracles, and exploiting vulnerable worshippers for financial gain.

He condemned the authorities for targeting Alo while leaving the man he believes orchestrated the scam untouched.

The former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) did not hold back, labeled Obi a serial scammer who has long manipulated the faithful under the guise of divine revelation.

Sowore questioned why the law was swift to move against Alo while turning a blind eye to the preacher at the center of the controversy.

Expressing sympathy for Alo, Sowore offered to support her legal battle, urged anyone with her contact information to reach out.

Sowore said;

“The person who should be arrested and arraigned is the so-called ‘Prophet’ Ebuka Obi, not Loveth Helen Alo

“This is unfair and unjust; the person who should be arrested is the so-called “Prophet” Ebuka Obi, who has consistently given false prophecies, scammed many unsuspecting church members and falsely obtained funds from the public with his fake miracles. If anyone knows this lady, please let me know how we can help,”

Alo’s ordeal began when she testified at Ebuka Obi’s Zion Prayer Movement Outreach in Lagos, claimed that divine intervention had granted her ownership of a luxury property at WTC Estate, Enugu.

However, her testimony unraveled when a petition led to her arrest on February 1, 2025.

The Enugu State Police Command confirmed her arraignment before the Enugu North Magisterial District Court, stated that she had knowingly made false public claims about the property.
