For years, Nigerian movie actress and filmmaker Ruth Kadiri has kept her love life tightly under wraps, only teasing fans with glimpses of her mystery man. But now, she’s opening up about how their love story began and it’s anything but typical.
In a recent interview with Ifedayo Agoro, in the Dear Ife podcast, Kadiri revealed that she met her husband at work and almost missed the blessing completely.
“I went to work. He saw me and wanted to talk to me, but I said no,” she said.
It wasn’t until her friend insisted that she give him a chance that the two actually connected. She continued:
“We talked about business and importation. As I stood and walked away, the Spirit of God told me he was my husband.”
But even after receiving what she believed was divine confirmation, Ruth did what many might find hilariously relatable, she blocked him. According to the actress:
“Two days later, I blocked him.”
Kadiri went on to explain that six years ago, she never imagined that the man she brushed off would become her life partner.
“I thought we wouldn’t marry each other. I was a catch. I knew anybody who would marry me would be lucky. I knew all that about my life,” she said confidently.
Now married with two beautiful daughters, the actress is thriving as a wife, mother, and one of Nollywood’s most respected talents both on-screen and behind the camera.
In the same interview, the movie star also addressed long-standing rumours that she’s been deliberately keeping her husband’s identity hidden from the public.
According to Ruth, her husband’s quiet and private personality is the reason he stays out of the spotlight. He doesn’t post much online, and even on his own social media page, he mostly shares faith-based content.
