Over 20 Graduates storm TikToker Peller’s ₦500K Cameraman interview, spark online buzz

Peller 500k Cameraman interview

A viral video showing a large crowd of young Nigerians applying for a ₦500,000-per-month cameraman job advertised by popular TikTok content creator, Habeeb Hamzat popularly known as Peller, has triggered serious conversations online about youth unemployment, job expectations, and work-life balance in Nigeria.

Peller, a known digital personality with a large following, had earlier announced an opening for a cameraman, with an impressive monthly pay of half a million naira.

The application process was open to the public, and the response exceeded expectations, with over 20 candidates showing up at the venue to be considered for the position.

To the surprise of many, the video showed a large number of young applicants showing up at the venue with high academic qualifications — including several with Master’s degrees — ready to compete for the role.

The now-trending video, originally shared on Peller’s TikTok page and later picked up by online platforms, featured clips of the applicants standing in groups, some of them visibly hopeful, as Peller interacted with them.

The news generated mixed reactions across Nigerian social media. While some praised the content creator for offering a substantial salary for the role, many expressed concern over the underlying implications for the nation’s job market.

Some online users remarked on the irony of seeing highly educated individuals apply for a job under someone who had previously admitted to dropping out of school.

For now, Peller has yet to announce the final candidate — but the video has already made one thing clear: the lines between formal education and success are being redrawn.
