Davido can’t keep calm as his billionaire dad nears historic Power Plant deal

Pacific energy: Davido, Billionaire dad

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke aka Davido is visibly elated as his father, billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, inches closer to becoming the single largest power producer in Nigeria.

With the imminent completion of a massive $2 billion power plant, Adeleke is set to take a commanding position in Nigeria’s energy sector, further cementing the Adeleke family’s influence in both business and politics.

Dr. Adeleke, who currently operates two major power plants through his company, Pacific Energy, is poised to significantly expand his stake in Nigeria’s electricity generation market.

The company’s existing plants — the 360MW Omotosho Power Plant in Ondo State and the 280.8MW Olorunsogo Power Plant in Ogun State — already contribute a combined 640.8 megawatts to the national grid.

The new $2 billion facility, whose location remains under wraps due to strategic and security reasons, is expected to surpass the capacity of the two existing plants combined.

Industry insiders say the upcoming project will position Pacific Energy as the largest independent power producer in the country — a landmark shift in the nation’s struggling power sector.

Davido, known for his chart-topping music and flamboyant lifestyle, took to social media with a heartfelt reaction, writing, “Nah now my life wan begin.”

The singer’s excitement reflects not just pride in his father’s expanding empire but the broader implications of the Adeleke name becoming synonymous with national infrastructure development.

This development comes at a time when Nigeria continues to battle epileptic electricity supply, with less than 5,000MW reaching consumers daily in a country of over 200 million people. Industry observers believe Adeleke’s growing investments could become a stabilizing force in the sector, especially if supported by efficient transmission and distribution frameworks.

Beyond power generation, the Adeleke family has become increasingly prominent in Nigeria’s public and political life. With Senator Ademola Adeleke serving as Governor of Osun State and Davido cementing global music dominance, the family’s profile is skyrocketing across multiple sectors.

As Nigerians await the official commissioning of the new power plant, many see this as a major milestone not only for the Adeleke dynasty but also for private sector participation in reviving Nigeria’s energy future.
