Popular Nigerian online activist, Verydarkman, was visibly heartbroken as he mourned the tragic death of Anambra-based entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, popularly known as “Fish Magnet,” who was recently confirmed dead after being kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
The late Onyekere, known on social media for his fish farming business and engaging content, had reportedly been abducted days ago in Anambra State. His death was confirmed on Monday, triggering emotional reactions from many, including Verydarkman, who shared a touching tribute on his page.
In a new video clip posted to his social media account, Verydarkman broke down in tears while eulogizing the young entrepreneur, describing him as a dedicated fan and supporter.
He accompanied the post with screenshots of past interactions between them, showing Onyekere’s admiration and how he tried sending fishes to appreciate Verydarkman’s advocacy efforts.
The activist used the opportunity to draw attention to the state of insecurity plaguing the country, especially in the Southeast. He called on Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, to urgently intervene and take stronger action against the rising cases of abductions and killings in the region.
Verydarkman stressed the need for immediate and decisive measures to address what he described as an alarming trend of unchecked violence. He emphasized that young Nigerians like Ifesinachi, who are working hard and contributing to society, deserve better protection.
In memory of the deceased, Verydarkman also announced plans to organize a candlelight procession in Anambra in August. The gesture, he said, is to honour the life and legacy of Onyekere and to remind authorities of the human cost of insecurity.
The death of Fish Magnet has sparked an outpouring of grief online, with many Nigerians calling for justice and an end to the growing wave of violence.
