‘I was warned’ – Veteran Actress Joke Muyiwa expresses deep sorrow over son’s mysterious death (VIDEO)

Joke Muyiwa

Veteran Nollywood actress and academic, Joke Muyiwa, has revisited a painful chapter in her life — the death of her son — in a revealing interview with Feelrightnews TV, where she linked the tragedy to a spiritual warning she ignored regarding his naturally matted hair.

During the sit-down, Muyiwa explained that her late son was born a dada, a child traditionally believed in Yoruba culture to have spiritually significant or naturally locked hair.

According to her, she was warned multiple times not to cut the boy’s hair, a practice that is taboo in several Yoruba communities unless specific rites are performed.

Despite the caution, Muyiwa admitted that she went ahead and had her son’s hair cut. Within two weeks of the haircut, the child died. She also disclosed that the person who performed the haircut died just a month later, a double loss that continues to leave her confused and emotionally shaken years later.

The actress described the experience as one of the most haunting and inexplicable episodes of her life. She acknowledged that the connection between the events remains a mystery that she struggles to understand to this day.

In Yoruba tradition, children born with dada hair are considered sacred or spiritually linked, and interfering with their natural hair without the proper rituals is widely believed to have serious consequences. These beliefs, though less discussed in modern Nigeria, still hold cultural weight in many parts of the southwest.

Joke Muyiwa’s emotional recollection adds to the growing list of Nigerian celebrities who have openly shared personal experiences involving spiritual or cultural practices that defy medical explanation. The story has since generated reactions across social media, where some users expressed sympathy while others raised discussions on the significance of preserving traditional beliefs in modern times.

Over the years, Joke Muyiwa has balanced her career as a renowned actress and lecturer, often using her platform to reflect on personal, cultural, and spiritual dimensions of life. Her recent revelation adds another layer to her deeply personal journey, marked by resilience and enduring pain.
