Nollywood actress and entrepreneur Iyabo Ojo has formally petitioned multiple high-level authorities within Nigeria and beyond, accusing the CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry, Director of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), of gross misconduct and alleged bias in the handling of a cybercrime case involving controversial social media activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM).
In her petition, Iyabo Ojo claimed that CP Uche failed to uphold the rule of law during her recent interrogation at the Cyber Crime Unit in Abuja.
According to her, VeryDarkMan—who is also a defendant in a separate criminal matter—was allowed to stroll into her interrogation room uninvited, unannounced and without any legal justification. Even more startling, she alleged that VDM was casually drinking coffee and eating biscuits during the session, while behaving like a VIP in a restricted legal setting.
Iyabo Ojo’s petition raises alarm over what she described as an inappropriate and possibly “special relationship” between CP Uche and VeryDarkMan. She accused the police commissioner of giving preferential treatment to the activist, allowing him unrestricted access to sensitive areas of the Cyber Crime Unit that should be off-limits to civilians, especially individuals under investigation.
The actress is calling for a full investigation into CP Uche’s conduct and has formally requested that he be removed from all current and future cases involving her. In her official correspondence, she listed several government agencies and human rights bodies as recipients of the petition, including:
