The uproar forced K1 to issue a public apology last Friday, in a statement personally signed. While expressing regret over the altercation, he maintained firmly that he was not carrying alcohol.
“Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me,” KWAM 1 explained in his statement.
He further stressed that the public had misunderstood the situation, insisting that his flask had always contained water for health reasons.
However, the controversy deepened when, shortly after the apology, the singer was named an Aviation Security Ambassador, a decision that triggered uproar among Nigerians online.
