Every family goes through their seasons of waiting, hoping, celebrating, and even the silent in-betweens. For Banky W and Adesua Etomi, each season has come with a story that feels like a living testimony. Today, October 11, 2025, that story adds another bright line as their youngest son, Zekiah, is turning one.
To celebrate, Adesua shared a message that feels both poetic and prophetic. She wrote on Instagram:
“We can’t believe today is your first birthday, Zekiah. We are all deeply in love with you.”
“Our strong-willed baby, our sunshine, our bundle of joy with a PhD in facial expressions. You are evidence of God’s faithfulness. He is indeed a promise keeper.”
She prayed over his life with a mother’s full heart that he will shine everywhere he goes, that nations will come to his light, that his life will always reflect God’s goodness. Adesua ended her lengthy message by simply concluding:
“Happy birthday, Kai Kai. Have an amazing life. We love you so much.”
From Waiting to Winning
Long before this birthday post, the Wellington-Etomi story had already been one of faith meeting reality.
Olubankole Wellington, known to millions as Banky W, has always balanced artistry and purpose. Born in New York City but raised in Lagos, he started Empire Mates Entertainment in 2002 and became one of the leading voices of Nigerian R&B. His songs like Strong Thing and Yes/No built his fame, but his outlook on life gave his music soul.
Adesua Etomi, one of Nollywood’s most respected actresses, has matched that same energy on screen. From The Wedding Party to King of Boys, she has built a career rooted in emotion, versatility, and grace. The two met through mutual friends in the entertainment space, connected quietly, and eventually got engaged in early 2017.
Their traditional wedding took place on November 19, 2017, followed by a white wedding in Cape Town on November 25, 2017. It was the kind of union fans rooted for despite the couple being celebrities in their own right.
But life after the wedding wasn’t all smooth. The couple later revealed that they lost a set of twins through IVF. It was a heartbreaking season that tested their faith but also deepened their bond. Adesua would later describe that time as “the wilderness before the promise.”
The Arrival of Zaiah and Zekiah
In January 2021, their first son, Hazaiah Olusegun Wellington, arrived. Safe to say he is a miracle they had prayed for. His name, which means “God sees” and “God has given victory,” reflected everything they had been through. Banky later said that his song Final Say was born from that experience, a musical testimony to answered prayers.
Then, in 2024, another beautiful surprise came. Adesua revealed she was expecting again, sharing elegant maternity photos with the caption: “First we had each other, then we had your brother, then God sent you. Now, we have everything.”
By the end of October 2024, they welcomed their second son, Zekiah, into the world. Banky posted a heartfelt video showing his hands-on role at home. He could be seen cooking, cleaning, and caring, while subtly passing on the message that partnership is built on effort, not ego.
And now, one year later, Adesua’s emotional birthday post ties everything together. “You are proof that God still answers prayers,” she wrote. “Proof that one can rule the house with maximum authority and two teeth.” It was the perfect mix of humour, gratitude, and prayer, which is the essence of this family’s story.
The Wellington Legacy
Their two boys, Zaiah and Zekiah, represent more than milestones. They are living reminders of faith, patience, and the power of prayer.
Banky often says that everything he and Adesua have is a reflection of grace. From losing twins to holding two sons, asides from their own personal health struggle with hyperemesis, surgery, cancerous tumors and emergency C-section, their journey has turned private pain into public encouragement for many couples still waiting on their own miracle.
As Zekiah turns one, Adesua’s message is clearly that of hope, that even if things take time, there’ll be double for every trouble.
