Nigeria’s music sensation, Tiwa Savage, is back in the news. Not for controversy or scandal but her frankness, candour and honesty about what she wants out of life especially in the aspect of marriage and the action and decision that will shape the trajectory of her life.
The all-over crooner has made the headlines a lot in recent weeks and was the subject of social media discourse for days on end following the clarifications on her relationship with other popular artists like Davido and Seyi Shey, with whom it was widely believed she had an acrimonious relationship.
These clarifications have now been followed by yet another hitherto unshared aspect of her private life as she opened up about her current dating and marital opportunities.
The award-winning singer disclosed her position on polygamy, noting that it is a practice she is willing to embrace.
The mother of one stated that she is open to being a second wife, adding that her situation has made her receptive to such a marriage concept.
She noted her new position on polygamy was not unconnected to her eligible suitors and those who seek her hand in marriage who she claimed are either in their 50s or married.
She made the disclosure while featuring in a recent episode of the American podcast, Air Service.
“If I meet somebody who can really marry me, they are either in their 50s or already married. So, I don’t know. Maybe I can be a second wife. I think so. I could be a second wife,” she said.
Tiwa Savage stated that if she ever becomes a second wife, she would be a gentle, reserved and levelheaded one. She assured that she won’t cause any trouble in her new marriage or become a source of pain for her co-wife.
She stated that she would be civil, courteous and respectful to her co-wife and they would get along well
“I’m not going to be troublesome. I’m going to be going on tours, and I’m not really going to stress you. I’m very respectful, I know that you are the first wife and would accord you that respect,” she added.
Tiwa Savage got married to music executive Tunji Balogun, aka TBillz, in 2013. The marriage lasted for five years, as it collapsed in 2018, and both parties parted ways.
