Speed Darlington breaks silence, talks tough following his release from prolonged incarceration
  • After Speed Darlington’s arrest over his controversial remarks about Burna Boy, followed by his release on bail, only to be rearrested and held in detention for an extended period, many assumed he would come out subdued or regretful.
  • But when he finally broke his silence, it wasn’t the expected quiet reflection. Instead, he came out with a renewed fire, clearly showing that he wasn’t defeated or cowed.

Controversial rapper Speed Darlington, born Darlington Achakpo, has made a powerful return to social media following his release from Kuje prison after a grueling two-month stint.

Released on Tuesday after being detained on charges of defamation and cyberstalking, Darlington had been incarcerated for making explosive accusations against Grammy-winning Burna Boy.

The rapper had publicly alleged that Burna Boy was involved in a secretive relationship with American mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, insinuating that the affair had a hand in Burna’s Grammy win.

His accusations didn’t stop there. He amplified his claims with the release of a diss track titled “Baby Oil”, in which he targeted Burna Boy, causing the controversy to spiral even further.

Darlington’s first arrest took place in October 2024, but after briefly regaining his freedom, he was rearrested on November 27, 2024, during a performance in Owerri, Imo State. His rearrest led to his extended time in Kuje prison.
