The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed that he once declined a personal invitation from an unnamed African president who sought divine healing through him.
Pastor Adeboye made the disclosure during the July 2025 Holy Ghost Service held at Redemption City, Mowe, Ogun State.
Addressing the congregation, the 82-year-old cleric said the head of state had reportedly reached out after conventional medical options failed.
According to Adeboye, the president contacted a pastor of the RCCG in his country and asked him to request a personal visit from the General Overseer.
“The president called our pastor and said, ‘Send for your General Overseer,’” Adeboye recounted.
“The pastor delivered the message, but I said, ‘Tell His Excellency I’m very busy. I’m sorry, I can’t come.’”
The respected preacher, widely known for his teachings on humility and prioritizing spiritual obedience, said he instructed the emissary to let the president know that his calendar was fully booked for the entire year. “I told him, ‘Let him know I’m fully booked,’” he added.
Pastor Adeboye explained that the request was eventually withdrawn and that the president, who later visited the RCCG campground, received healing on the same day. “I think when the problem reached a stage, he changed his mind, and the very day he got on the campground, God solved the problem,” he said.
The revelation has sparked public interest, with many praising Adeboye’s consistency in placing his spiritual mandate above political privilege.
Others have noted that the incident highlights the influence of religion in African political life and the reliance of some leaders on spiritual intervention.
Also during the service, Pastor Adeboye warned believers against anger, describing it as “temporary madness” capable of destroying destinies.
