Sam Dede mourns Reggae legend Bunny Wailer

Veteran Nollywood actor Sam Dede has mourned Reggae legend Bunny Wailer.

The 55-year-old shared a picture of Wailer on Instagram on Tuesday.

He said he grew up listening to the deep, conscious lyrics of Wailer, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh.

“I grew up listening to the deep, conscious lyrics of the three Wailers: Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Bunny Wailer. Today, clearly the most spiritually conscious and only surviving Wailer lost grip of his energy of life-force, as he makes the transition to the Most High.

“Thank you BUNNY WAILER for the consciousness and inspiration. But we always remember you said ‘ONE BRIGHT MORNING WHEN MY WORK IS OVER, I WILL FLY AWAY HOME,’” he wrote.

The Jamaican government announced Wailer’s death on Tuesday.

“We remain grateful for the role that Bunny Wailer played in the development and popularity of Reggae music across the world,” Culture Minister Olivia Grange said in a statement.

“We remember with great pride how Bunny, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, took Reggae music to the four corners of the earth,” she added.

Wailer co-founded The Wailers with Bob Marley in the 1960s.

He was the last surviving original member of the Wailers after Marley died of cancer in 1981, and Peter Tosh was murdered in 1987.

Wailer won three Grammys over the course of his career and in 2017 he was awarded Jamaica’s Order of Merit, the country’s fourth highest honor.
