The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said it will resume Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) nationwide in the second quarter of 2021.

INEC Head of ICT, Ibadan, Wunmi Balogun disclosed this on Monday at the training of electoral officers and assistants electoral officers of Polling Units (PUs) in Ibadan.

According to Balogun, the commission would use INEC Voters Enrolment Devices for the CVR instead of the Direct Data Capturing Machine.

Speaking on the purpose of the training, Oyo INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mutiu Agboke said the training was to address the challenges faced by voters on access to polling units during elections.

“What we are doing is to x-ray the paper that we have with our staff, particularly those manning our offices in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and their assistants.

“These officers have been taken through the process to understand the challenges faced by voters in accessing polling units,” NAN quoted him as saying.

Agboke assured INEC will work out strategies to ensure that the issues regarding excessive voter turnout in certain locations are resolved.
