Olujuwon Obasanjo, son of former president Olusegun Obasanjo, has picked Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello as his choice of candidate for 2023 presidency.

This is amid the growing call for Bello to join the race and vie for the position in 2023.

Obasanjo joined the intensified call for youths in government, saying Nigerian youths have been neglected for too long despite the numerical strength and huge contributions in electioneering processes.

He lamented that youths have been denied the space to manifest their aspirations in political decisions making.

Backing up his claims on the need for youthful leadership, he noted elder statesmen like General Muhammadu Buhari, Gen T. Y. Danjuma, Yakubu Gowon and of course his father, Olusegun Obasanjo who ruled at 35-45 were at their best in nation-building and leadership.

To this end, he called on the Kogi governor, who he described as a “becaon of hope” to step up his aspirations in order to create leadership space for the youths.

“With a Bello presidency, there is no doubt that youths of competence and patriotic valour under the age of 27-30 can be ministers’, Obasanjo stated in Abuja on Friday during his visit to the governor.

“You must remain resolute, stoic and not give in to intimidation, name-calling or sort. Your audacity is a big reawakening to Nigerian youths and this has given us more hope and confidence today”.
