Dino Melaye, former Kogi West Senator, has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned medical trip to the United Kingdom, UK.

Melaye said Buhari should hand over to the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo before embarking on his trip.

In a tweet, the former lawmaker said the President should hand over to Osinbajo by writing to the National Assembly.

Melaye tweeted: “The president should transfer power to the Vice President through a letter to the National Assembly before leaving the country in-line with constitutional provision. SDM”

Recall that the presidency had yesterday disclosed that Buhari was billed to depart Nigeria on Tuesday (today) for the UK for a medical check-up.

Before Buhari’s departure, he will meet with Security Chiefs first in the morning, then, head to the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, for the journey.

The President is due to return in the country during the second week of April, 2021,

This is not the first time the president would be embarking on such a trip.

Buhari had in 2016 embarked on a similar trip.
