The Executive Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has condemned the attack on Haske Baptist Church in Chikun LGA of the state.

Recall that gunmen had attacked the church on Sunday morning, killing one worshipper and kidnapping others.

It was also learnt that a resident of the area identified as Shehu Manika got injured during the incident.

Condemning the attack via a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security, the state governor said such invasion of the church represents evil in its worst form.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai roundly denounced the attack on the church in Chikun LGA as a shocking act of depraved persons far-removed from humanity,” the statement reads.

“The Governor added that attacking innocent worshipers who were exercising their natural and lawful right to assemble in worship, represented the worst kind of evil.

“The Governor sent heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and to the Haske Baptist Church.”

In another development, the corpse of Abubakar Sarki Musa, a seven-year-old, was found at Hayin Danmani area, Rigasa, Igabi LGA, of Kaduna state.

Aruwan noted that one Saddique Umar, an 18-year-old resident of the area, confessed to killing the seven-year-old, “after luring the boy into the deserted building in a bid to steal a phone placed in his possession”.

Meanwhile, in an attack by gunmen on Bagoma village in Birnin Gwari LGA, six residents were said to have been killed.

Aruwan said “the governor prayed for the repose of the souls of the slain in all the attacks”, and also wished the injured victim a speedy recovery.
