The Executive Governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi has stated that the state has been invaded by “evil men” who seek to harm its residents.

This was stated by the state governor on Monday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi capital, during a prayer session organised by the government over the security situation in the state, south east and the country.

Umahi said he will not to cower in the face of insecurity, nor will he stop visiting and inspecting ongoing projects.

“Evil men have infiltrated our state to kill, maim and kidnap but God would deliver us,” he said.

“I believe strongly that an average Ebonyi person is happy with our administration and no one would accuse us of not performing.

“God has not given us the spirit of fear and I ask: who is there to stop me?

“We will walk the streets of Abakaliki without security as I will become sick if I don’t go for projects’ inspection.”

More than 18 people have died in Ebonyi in the past few weeks as the security situation took a downward turn.

Recall that On March 30, atleast 15 people were killed following attacks by gunmen on some communities in Ishielu LGA of the state.

On April 15, gunmen also killed three police officers in Abakakili.

Barely 48 hours ago, Abaomege police station, in Onicha LGA of the state, was attacked with some officers confirmed injured and hospitalised.
