The Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai has stated that the 29 freed students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanization, Afaka should see their ordeal as a motivation for a successful future.

This was contained in a statement released on Wednesday by Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna commissioner for internal security and home affairs.

Recall that the bandits in March attacked the college located in Igabi LGA and abducted the students, but 172 of them were rescued, leaving 39 in captivity.

Ten students were freed by their abductors in April, leaving 29 in captivity.

The remaining 29 students regained their freedom on Wednesday.

The commissioner said the students have been taken to an undisclosed location for medical check-up.

“The Kaduna State Police Command has reported to the Kaduna State Government, the release of the remaining students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation,” he said.

“The government rejoices with the freed students, their families and the management of the institution over this development.

“Governor Nasir El-Rufai charged them to view their ordeal as a motivator to put the past behind and work hard towards a happier and successful future ahead.”
