The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has admonished passengers to comply with the COVID-19 protocol at the airports while travelling for the Eid Al-Fitri celebration.

This was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the FAAN spokesperson, Henrietta Yakubu.

According to the FAAN spokesperson, adequate measures have been put in place to ensure the safety and security of airport users.

She also urged passengers to arrive at the airport early enough to complete the check-in requirement to avoid missing their flights.

“The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) wishes to advice passengers and airport users to abide by all laid down protocols on COVID-19 while using the airports,” she said.

“Assuring that the Authority has put adequate measures in place to guarantee the safety and security of airport users during and after the celebration, the Authority noted that recent developments in some parts of the world with respect to the COVID-19 pandemic requires that all hands must be on deck.

“Additionally, FAAN advises passengers to leave their homes early enough, so as to get to the airports and complete all check-in formalities in good time to avoid missing their flights.”

The federal government on Monday reintroduced restriction on mass gatherings following a surge in COVID-19 cases in some countries.
