It has been revealed that one of the five first-time worshippers who were arrested by Department of State Services (DSS) operatives at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, last Sunday, Samuel Gabriel Iwatonaiye is a blind young man.

According to SaharaReporters, Iwatonaiye was manhandled by the church officials before being handed over to the DSS operatives.

WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that DSS operatives arrested some activists for wearing ‘Buhari Must Go’ T-shirts and chanting during a Sunday Service at Dunamis Gospel Church Headquarters in Abuja.

A top church official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said “Those people sneaked into the church, I used the word sneaked because the church was not aware of their intention, no department in the church knew anything.

“They even came out for altar call and before you know it we saw that they had ‘Buhari must go’ T-shirts and they were recording people making it seem as if the church planned the protest.”

According to SaharaReporters, a source revealed to them that “the blind gentleman was arrested for wearing #BuhariMustGo T-shirts.”

“He is a saxophonist and was arrested at Dunamis. The church security handed him over to the DSS after manhandling him,” the source added.

The whereabouts of the activists remain unknown as the DSS and the Dunamis Church have continued to shift responsibility regarding the arrest and detention of the activists.

“Meanwhile, no one has heard from the activists since Sunday when church security attacked them and detained them on the church premises. Their phones have since been switched off,” a source had revealed.
