Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday reiterated the Buhari administration’s plan to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty in ten years.

The VP, however, said this will not be based on a business as usual approach, but a common-sense strategy that will deliver the results President Muhammadu Buhari promised.

Osinbajo said the government and stakeholders must be very intentional about the objectives and how to achieve them.

Prof. Osinbajo spoke in Abuja on Friday at the inaugural meeting of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy Steering Committee held at the Presidential Villa.

Osinbajo said the government would adopt a different and more effective approach in actualizing the objective of eradicating poverty.

He assured that efforts will be made to focus attention on creating opportunities for Nigerians to earn decent livelihoods.

Ekiti Governor Kayode Fayemi, the Nigeria Governors Forum Chairman; Borno Governor Babagana Zulum, and Nasarawa Governor Abdullahi Sule attended.

Secretary to the Government, Boss Mustapha; Ministers of Agriculture, Muhammad Nanono; Industry, Trade and Investment, Niyi Adebayo, and Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige were also present.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Prince Clem Agba joined the meeting virtually.
