A politician, identified simply as Ekpo, was on Thursday shot dead by gunmen at a rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Agboju area of Lagos State.
It was gathered that Ekpo, who was also a member of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), was at the APC rally when the gunmen invaded the venue and allegedly shot him dead.
The attack on Ekpo was said to have send residents, passersby, traders, customers, and other APC members present at the rally scampering for safety.
According to PUNCH, Jimoh Buhari, the spokesman for the Chairman, NURTW, Musiliu Akinsanya, who confirmed the incident, disclosed the circumstances in which Ekpo was murdered.
“He was protecting a fellow politician, Wale Yusuf, from harassment when the gunmen shot him dead,” he said.
