Reno Omokri, a former presidential aide to Goodluck Jonathan, has tackled people criticizing popular Nigerian General Overseers for not attending the burial of the late founder of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, SCOAN, Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua.
In backing the decision to shun TB Joshua‘s burial, Omokri said it is hypocritical to attend a burial of someone you didn’t associate with when alive.
Recall that the only notable clergyman who attended his funeral was the chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Lagos state chapter, Rt. Rev. S.T.V Adegbite.
WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the popular televangelist and philanthropist who passed on June 5 was buried on Friday, July 9 in his church premises in Lagos.
Most of the major church General Overseers in Nigeria were conspicuously absent at the burial which attracted dignitaries from around the world.
Reacting via his Twitter handle, Omokri said people should only attend funeral of people they associated with while they were still alive.
He wrote, “Whether in religion, politics, or entertainment, in life, people usually only attend the funerals of men and women they associated with during their lives.”
“If you did not associate with someone while that person lived, and more importantly, that person also did not associate associate with you in their lifetime, it is hypocritical to go to their funeral.”
