The Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, has approved N909 million for the payment of pension arrears for retired civil servants in the state.

The Head of Service, Dr Festus Olowogboyega, said in a statement on Thursday in Osogbo that N508 million was approved for the payment of retirees under the old pension scheme, while N150 million was for the payment of retirees under the contributory pensions scheme.

Olowogboyega added that an additional N50 million was approved for the payment of gratuities of retired officers under the old pension scheme.

The Head of Service also said that the governor had also approved immediate payment of retirees under the contributory pension, whose arrears is between N500,000 and N 1 million.

He said that the final certificates of clearance for the payment of the affected retirees must also fall within August 2017 and 31st December 2020.

Olowogboyega also said that the governor equally approved N201 million to settle part of the gratuities of retired officers in teaching and local government service under the old pension scheme.

He said the list of beneficiaries of the approved sum had been pasted on the notice board of the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, the State’s Pension Bureau and the Office of the Head of Service.
