BREAKING: Reps pass electoral bill, adopt e-transmission of result ‘where practicable’

The electoral act amendment bill has been passed by the house of representatives.

The bill was passed by the lower legislative chamber after the the clause-by-clause consideration of the bill.

Both electronic and manual transmission of election results were adopted by the house.

The bill was passed after the minority caucus staged a walkout.

In a related story, WITHIN NIGERIA had reported that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Thursday described as ‘shocking, the rejection of electronic transmission of election results by the Senate.

Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, in a statement said that majority of Nigerians were shocked that the Senate gave no condition for rejecting the demand for the electronic transmission of election results.
