The Minister of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio has sent his words of congratulations to the Akwa United football team for their victory during the just concluded NPFL competition.
The Minister described the victory of the club as a goon sign which shows future achievements of the youths of Akwa Ibom State.
Senator Akpabio sent his goodwill message in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Jackson Udom. According to the statement, the former governor of Akwa Ibom State also said that the victory came after many years of anticipation.
“Let me congratulate the players, the management and the backroom staffers of Akwa United Football Club, for this uncommon feat of lifting the 2020/2021 NPFL Cup for the very first time since the establishment of the club and creation of Akwa Ibom State”. The message reads in part.
The former minority leader also used the opportunity to stressed the need for the government of Akwa Ibom State to provide adequate sporting facilities for the teaming youths in the state to develop their talents in different sporting ares .
“I encourage the present administration in the state to provide adequate and needed sporting facilities and equipment for the youths in the various areas. That was why during my administration as governor of the state, I ensured that I built a world class stadium and other mega sporting facilities for the people of the state. Today, the state is happy for it”
