French Ligue 1 club, Bordeaux, on Tuesday, released the latest update on winger Samuel Kalu’s heart condition after the Nigerian international collapsed on the pitch against Marseille last weekend.

Bordeaux said heart tests have shown no ‘cardiac abnormalities’ issues for Kalu after he fell on the pitch early in the first half of their game against Marseille on Sunday, adding that the player can return to training on Wednesday.

Recall on Saturday that Kalu was allowed to continue to play on after receiving treatment from medical staff.

However, the 23-year-old star was taken off eight minutes later.

Kalu was preparing to form a defensive wall for a free-kick when he fell to the pitch.

“More fear than harm for Samuel Kalu as our Nigerian international is fit to resume training on Wednesday,” Bordeaux’s statement read.

“All the additional examinations carried out on Tuesday showed no cardiac abnormalities and Kalu should be in contention for Sunday’s home match against Angers.”
