The Jigawa Government has just announced and commenced enforcement of the banning of the use of motorcycles from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. across the state aimed at curbing the increase of insecurity in the parts of the state.

This was disclosed by the Dutse local government Council’s Chairman and Chairman of ALGON in the state, Alhaji Bala Usman Chamo, who said the decision was taken in the state’s security council meeting presided over by Governor Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar of the state.

Alhaji Bala Usman explained that “this is part of measures to check activities of the criminal elements.”

According to him “the ban is part of the government’s effort to curtail criminal elements, using motorcycles to commit crimes, particularly in the rural areas of the state.”

He explained that the measure was taken after the state’s Security Council observed the increasing number of security threats in the state.

The ALGON boss maintained that “It is observed that security has an issue in the country and the state at our local level. We just recorded a number of security concerns across the state.

“And that was what led to the decision by the security council to put in place some measures in order to control anything that might further provoke the escalation of the security issues.

“And the measure taken is to ban the use of motorcycle movement from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., until further notice. All this applicable in all the 27 LGAs of the state,” he said.

The chairman added that the leadership of commercial motorcycles riders were duly informed about the development for full compliance by their members.

He stated further that, the signal has also been sent to all security agencies in order to ensure the enforcement of the directives as instructed by the security council.

Usman added that “It is equally important to note that anybody found disobeying the instruction will be dealt with decisively.

“There will, however, be some exemption where there is a cogent reason,” the chairman added.
