The US secretary of state, Antony Blinken has stated that the United States will continue to support Nigeria’s efforts to fight terrorism and strengthen democratic institutions.

This was contained in a congratulatory message issued on Friday by Blinken to felicitate with Nigeria on its 61st  Independence Day.

According to Blinken, the strong relationship between the two countries is based on a shared commitment to democracy and a shared spirit of entrepreneurship.

“On behalf of the United States Government and the American people, I extend best wishes to the people of Nigeria on the 61st anniversary of their independence,” he said.
