The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday approved a recommendation by its Committee on Anti-Corruption and Financial Crimes for the confirmation of candidates to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s board of directors.

Senators who contributed praised the Committee for conducting a thorough study of the candidates after the report was read aloud by the Committee Chairman, Senator Suleiman Abdu Kwari, who also represented Kaduna North Senatorial District.

Senator Jibrin Barau expressed his view in support of the report, given that there was no controversy trailing any of the nominees.

Before the open debate, the Chairman of the Committee submitted that the nominees made themselves available and were thoroughly scrutinised in line with the mandate of the Committee, while he urged Senators to approve the nominees.
