The Anambra State Police Command has debunked reports that unknown gunmen, numbering about 15, attacked the Nkwo Awkuzu area, describing it as fake.

Vaeious news sites had published that “unknown men have taken to attacking Okada riders at Nkwo Awkuzu. The men who are numbered about 15 matched towards Ifitedunu town on Awkuzu road after the attacks.”

WITHIN NIGERIA however, gathered that the news of the attack is false.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenganyia, Anambra command’s PPRO, who spoke to DAILY POST said: “Please it is fake.

“No such incident happened, we urge the members of the public especially Ndi Anambra to disregard it, please. It is the handiwork of mischief makers.”

Ikenga, however, said that the police commissioner, Echeng Eworo, has led a combined team of security men around the state to boost both the confidence of members of the public and that of the police officers.

“The Commissioner of Police today led the military and heads of other sister agencies on a confidence-building patrol, we just visited Ihiala, Nkpor, Ihiala and the patrol is still on,” he said.
