The coach of the Nigerian senior national team, Gernot Rohr, has named a 24-man squad for the upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifying matches against Liberia and Cape Verde later in this month.

However, the surprised inclusion in the squad list is Odion Ighalo who retired his retirement from international career after the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Football fans in the country are waiting see if Ighalo would accept the invitation after he declared last week that he was yet to decide whether he would return to the national team or not.

Rohr selected seven strikers, three goalkeepers, nine defenders and five midfielders with the return of Porto star Zaidu Sanusi and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi.
