Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta was involved in a heated spat on the touchline with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in the first-half of the two side’s clash at Anfield.

The incident came in the first-half after Sadio Mane and Takehiro Tomiyasu went up for a header, with the Reds winger catching the Gunners defender with his arm.

Arteta complained to the referee Michael Oliver after the incident and Klopp took issue with that.

The two then could be seen shouting at each other, with Arteta being held back as he was clearly furious with what the Liverpool boss had said, or how he had said it.

The incident seemed to get the home crowd excited and the game somewhat changed over the next few minutes – which was capped off by Liverpool opening the scoring at Anfield.

Mane, the man involved in the incident, headed past Aaron Ramsdale, which saw Klopp delighted on the touchline.

Arsenal’s start was solid, without threatening Alisson Becker too much down the other end, but in the second-half, they really suffered with how good Liverpool were.

Diogo Jota made it 2-0 early into the second period, with a calm and composed run that ended with him rounding Ramsdale and tapping the ball into an empty net.

Mohamed Salah got himself on the scoresheet after a fine Mane cross which allowed the Liverpool star the simple task of converting from close distance. Takumi Minamino then came on and marked his appearance with Liverpool’s fourth of the night, just 48 seconds after coming off the bench.

Arsenal remain in fifth and have missed the opportunity to climb into the top four of the Premier League table.
