Ahmed Lawan, President of the Senate has called on Gombe youths and Nigerian youths not to believe the Peoples Democratic Party.

This was disclosed on Sunday by Lawan during an empowerment programme organised by the Senator representing Gombe North.

The chairman of the National Assembly who spoke in Hausa noted that for the 16 years reign of the main opposition party, no meaningful development was brought in the country.

According to him, it would be unfortunate if innocent youths were swayed by the PDP.

Lawan said, “PDP did nothing for 16 years, they spent money without any reasonable development. Youths should not believe PDP again.”

Speaking further, the Senate President noted that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has shown pragmatic leadership, stressing that the president has brought dividends of democracy to the people.

He revealed that the president has never rested for a second since his assumption of office in 2015.

“We thank President Muhammadu Buhari. He is the leader of the party in the country who has given us great leadership from 2015 till date and who has shown great desire to turn around the fortune of this country. Mr President has never rested for a second,” Lawan said.

While assuring the Executive of the National Assembly’s support, Lawan noted that despite the current administration’s efforts, a lot was been desired.

Lawan added, “He (Buhari) is doing his best. Even though we are not out of the woods, he has done so much since 2015-2021. The National Assembly will continue to support Mr President to ensure that we deliver on our campaign promises to Nigerians.”

The Senate President also endorsed the Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, for the second term in office, saying that since 2019, the state has witnessed monumental leadership.

He said, “We have seen instrumental transformation initiated by this administration. Your Excellency Mr Governor, on behalf of the Senate and indeed the national assembly, we commend you and of course say 4+4.”
