The Federal Government and the Nigeria Army have been ordered to pay N1billion to the Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for invading his house in September 2017.

The High Court sitting in Umuahia, Abia state capital, also ordered federal government and the Army to apologise to Kanu for the violation of his Fundamental Rights.

Justice Benson Anya gave the order today, Wednesday while delivering judgement on the suit filed by Kanu against the federal government, the Army and others.

Recall that Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, had asked the court to declare the invasion of the IPOB leader’s Abia State residence in 2017 unconstitutional and an infringement on his constitutional rights.
