Fo their match with Burnley on Tuesday, Manchester United interim boss, Ralf Rangnick has disclosed why Cristiano Ronaldo was dropped.

Rangnick said Ronaldo was dropped because the game will require “a lot of sprinting”.

Rangnick opted to start with Edinson Cavani at Turf Moor, as United hoped to maintain their fourth position on the log.

Paul Pogba gave the Red Devils the lead, before Jay Rodriguez levelled for the hosts.

A lot was made out of Rangnick’s decision to drop Ronaldo and he explained why.

“Today it will require a lot of sprinting, chasing balls, a lot of fight for second balls.

“This best fits the profile for Edinson Cavani which is why he starts today,” Rangnick said.
