To guarantee the peaceful conduct of the Saturday council poll in the nation’s capital, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, police command has formed nine ‘sector re-enforcement teams’ made up of police and other sister agencies.

DSP Josephine Adeh, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed this in a statement published on Friday morning, saying the move was made to completely rule out the prospect of an overwhelming security breach during the exercise.

The statement reads, “in absolute readiness for the forthcoming 12th February, 2022 Area council elections, the FCT Police Command wishes to intimate the general public with the emergency response system put in place via the creation of a ‘9 sector re-enforcement team’ comprising of the Police and other sister agencies.

“The Sectored reenforcement team is independent of, and shouldn’t be confused with the standard deployment of two (2 ) unarmed Police personnel at each Pooling unit across the territory as required by standard best practices.
