The Academic Staff Union of Universities at the Niger Delta University, Bayelsa State, on Wednesday, joined the one-month warning strike declared by the national leadership of the union.

This was contained in a resolution issued on Wednesday evening after an emergency meeting of the ASUU-NDU held at the university auditorium on Wilberforce Island.

The resolution was signed by the union chapter’s chairman, Tonbara Kingdom, and the secretary, Ebi Baraka.

The lecturers declared there would be no lectures, examinations, conferences, workshops, seminars and statutory meetings during the period of the strike.

The resolution read, “The Academic Staff Union of Universities, Niger Delta University chapter, deliberated on the reports of the National Executive Council meeting held at the University of Lagos, Lagos, at the weekend and resolved:

“To join the four-week rolling strike embarked upon by the National Executive Council of our union, with effect from Wednesday, 16th February 2022, to compel the government to address the issues as outlined in the 2009 ASUU-NDU agreement and MoUs and MoAs.

“During this period, there won’t be lectures, examinations, conferences, seminars, workshops and statutory meetings.”
