The National Examination council (NECO) has released results of its 2021 external School Certificate Examination with 4, 454 candidates booked for various forms of malpractices.

The results, which were released 64 days after the last paper was written, had a 78 per cent pass rate.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of NECO, Professor Dantani Wushishi, who disclosed this at the NECO headquarters in Minna, said that four supervisors were blacklisted.

“A supervisor was blacklisted from Niger state, one from Borno State and two from Delta state for engaging aiding and abetting during the examination.

“These supervisors would no longer be engaged in the conduct of NECO examinations,” he stated.

The Registrar reiterated the Council’s zero tolerance for examination malpractice stating that the appropriate standards and excellence were maintained right from the planning stage to the release of results.

Wushishi said that 49,916 candidates registered for the November- December external examination adding that 36,116 out of 45,821 candidates got credit and above representing 78.04 per cent in the English language.

He said that 35,706 out of 45, 756 candidates representing 78.04 per cent got five credits and above in Mathematics.

“The total number of candidates who got five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 29,342 representing 62.59 per cent while on the other hand, 37,991 candidates representing 81.04 per cent got five credits and above irrespective of English and mathematics,” he stressed.

On examination malpractices, Wushishi said a total of 4, 454 candidates were booked for various forms of malpractice as against 6, 465 recorded in 2021.
