The Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential hopeful, Atiku Abubakar, on Saturday, visited ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Atiku arrived at the Hilton Towers of Obasanjo at exactly 10:10am and was received by the strongman of Ogun politics.

His visit was not unconnected to his 2023 presidential ambition.

Atiku was Obasanjo’s deputy when they both ruled the nation from 1999 to 2007.

The former Vice President has made various attempts to rule the nation, but to no avail.

In 2019, he contested under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but he lost to the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Meanwhile, the former Vice President has challenged Nigerian youths to compete with the elders if they want to rule the nation.

Atiku spoke with newsmen after a closed-door meeting with Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Asked to react to calls on older politicians to leave the stage for the youths, Atiku said the youths should also contest.

“Let the youth compete. It is competition. It’s a democracy,” Atiku replied.

He revealed that he would declare his 2023 ambition to contest soon.
