Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has condemned the killing of All Progressives Congress Woman Leader Mrs Olumo Abolaji in Kwara State.

Mrs. Olumo, the APC women leader in the Koro ward of the state’s Ekiti Local Government Area, was one of eight people kidnapped on Wednesday evening between Araromi Opin and Obbo-Ile in the LG, according to reports.

She was reportedly killed on Saturday following a gunfight between the robbers and a team of troops and hunters.

In a statement, Saraki, a presidential candidate for 2023, expressed sadness over the death, calling the dead as a dedicated leader who died while on duty.

In a statement on his verified Facebook page, Saraki commiserated with the family and the state’s APC chapter.

He said, “I am deeply saddened to read about the death of Mrs. Olumo Abolaji, the APC Women Leader of Ekiti LGA in Kwara State, who was abducted and subsequently killed by bandits during a rescue operation conducted by our gallant police force.

“Looking beyond party lines and political affiliations, we all have to acknowledge that women constantly have to struggle for space and make countless personal sacrifices that often go unnoticed. It pains me to hear about this committed community leader and organiser, who we have lost while in the line of duty.

“As we join her family, her community to mourn her passing, we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the APC in Kwara State over this significant loss.

“It is our prayer that the family of Mrs. Abolaji, receives the much-needed strength from Almighty Allah at this difficult time”.
