More than 4 years after their last promotions, 21,039 junior officers have been elevated by Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba.

The promotion of the officers who were last elevated on or before 2017, comprises 20,572 Sergeants to Inspector, 324 Corporals to Sergeants, and 143 Constables to Corporal.

Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi announced the approval in a statement on Thursday.

Adejobi said it is part of efforts aimed at improving the welfare, conditions of service and boosting the morale of personnel for greater efficiency.

Baba assured that he remained committed to manpower development to ensure that deserving personnel are rewarded to encourage hard work.

The IGP informed senior police officers that the Force high command is liaising with the Police Service Commission (PSC) on the release of their promotion.

He commended the newly-promoted officers for their resilience and charged them to see their new ranks as a call for renewed zeal, vigour and patriotism to duty.
