Teenager dies from electrocution in Delta state while charging iPhone

The Delta state police command has confirmed the electrocution of one Chibuike Emmanuel in Ozoro, Isoko North local government area of the state.

The deceased, an 18-year-old boy, was electrocuted on Tuesday around 5:00 pm while charging his iPhone 8.

Delta command police spokesman Bright Edafe confirmed Emmanuel’s death.

One of the residents of the community disclosed that the incident was reported to the police at about 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

According to resident, the incident was reported by the mother’s friend who brought him from Lagos to spend his holiday with them in Ozoro.

The victim was said to have laid on the floor in the residence of his mother’s friend located at Idheze Road, Ozoro, and placed the iPhone on his chest while charging and slept off.

“It was in that process that the deceased was electrocuted. He was rushed to Okeleke Hospital for resuscitation but was confirmed dead,” explained the residentsl. “The remains of the deceased have been deposited at the Bromic private mortuary in Ozoro awaiting autopsy.”
